Gonzalo Noqué was born in 1982 in Madrid, where he studied at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música with Miguel Ángel Jiménez, earning a First Class Honors Degree. He subsequently studied with Marco Tamayo at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg, obtaining a “Master of Arts” Degree with Distinction, and privately with Ricardo Gallén; within the framework of his studies, he also took part in masterclasses with Manuel Barrueco, David Russell, Carlos Bonell and Joaquín Clerch among others.

He is active as a soloist, and as a chamber and accompanying musician, having given premières of several pieces written for him, and made live recordings for the Spanish (RTVE) and the Austrian (ORF) National Radio Broadcasting Companies among others.

He is also interested in performing on period instruments, and plays a guitar made after a 1833 Gennaro Fabricatore instru­ment, with which he has played pieces by Anton Diabelli with fortepiano-player Wolfgang Brunner and tenor Max Kiener, in honour of the 150th anniversary of the composer’s death, in Mattsee, Diabelli’s native town.

Gonzalo Noqué is specially interested in unusual chamber music repertoire, and his first recording, released by the label Naxos, includes the world premiere recording of Ferdinand Rebay’s complete works for oboe and guitar, a neglected austrian composer born in 1880. In addition to his performing activities, he has made contributions as a record reviewer.

He is currently a guitar teacher at the Francisco Guerrero Conservatory in Seville, Spain.
